Amasa Yoavın elindeki kılıcı farketmedi. Yoav kılıcı karnına saplayınca, Amasanın bağırsakları yere döküldü. İkinci vuruşa gerek kalmadan Amasa öldü. Bundan sonra Yoavla kardeşi Avişay, Bikri oğlu Şevayı kovalamayı sürdürdüler.

واما عماسا فلم يحترز من السيف الذي بيد يوآب فضربه به في بطنه فدلق امعاءه الى الارض ولم يثن عليه فمات. واما يوآب وابيشاي اخوه فتبعا شبع بن بكري.

But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand: so he smote him therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.
