Ne var ki, bekçi kılıcın ülkenin üzerine yaklaştığını görüp halkı uyarmak için boru çalmazsa, kılıç da gelip halktan birini öldürürse, o kişi kendi günahı içinde öldürülmüştür; kanından bekçiyi sorumlu tutacağım.'

فان رأى الرقيب السيف مقبلا ولم ينفخ في البوق ولم يتحذّر الشعب فجاء السيف واخذ نفسا منهم فهو قد أخذ بذنبه اما دمه فمن يد الرقيب اطلبه

But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

Si la sentinelle voit venir l'épée et ne sonne pas de la trompette, en sorte que le peuple ne se tienne pas sur ses gardes, et que l'épée vienne enlever la vie à quelqu'un d'entre eux, celui-ci aura été surpris à cause de son iniquité, mais je redemanderai son sang à la sentinelle.

And the watchman, when he seeth the sword coming in, And he hath not blown with a trumpet, And the people hath not been warned, And come in doth a sword, And taketh away of them — a soul, He in his iniquity is taken away, And his blood from the hand of the watchman I require.
