Yedinci gün çocuk öldü. Davutun görevlileri çocuğun öldüğünü Davuta bildirmekten çekindiler. Çünkü, "Çocuk daha yaşarken onunla konuştuk ama bizi dinlemedi" diyorlardı, "Şimdi çocuğun öldüğünü ona nasıl söyleriz? Kendisine zarar verebilir!"

وكان في اليوم السابع ان الولد مات فخاف عبيد داود ان يخبروه بان الولد قد مات لانهم قالوا هوذا لما كان الولد حيّا كلمناه فلم يسمع لصوتنا. فكيف نقول له قد مات الولد. يعمل اشرّ.

İngilizce:

And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?

Et le septième jour l'enfant mourut, et les serviteurs de David craignaient de lui faire savoir que l'enfant était mort; car ils disaient: Quand l'enfant était en vie, nous lui avons parlé, et il n'a point écouté notre voix; comment donc lui dirions-nous que l'enfant est mort? Il ferait bien pis encore.

Am siebenten Tage aber starb das Kind. Und die Knechte Davids fürchteten sich, ihm anzusagen, daß das Kind tot wäre. and it cometh to pass on the seventh day, that the lad dieth, and the servants of David fear to declare to him that the lad is dead, for they said, 'Lo, in the lad being alive we spake unto him, and he did not hearken to our voice; and how do we say unto him, The lad is dead? — then he hath done evil.'
