Elişa o sırada halkın ileri gelenleriyle birlikte evinde oturuyordu. Kral önden bir haberci gönderdi. Ama daha haberci gelmeden, Elişa ileri gelenlere, "Görüyor musunuz caniyi?" dedi, "Kalkmış, başımı kestirmek için adam gönderiyor! Haberci geldiğinde kapıyı kapayın, onu içeri almayın. Çünkü ardından efendisi kral da gelecek."

وكان اليشع جالسا في بيته والشيوخ جلوسا عنده. فارسل رجل من امامه. وقبلما أتى الرسول اليه قال للشيوخ هل رايتم ان ابن القاتل هذا قد ارسل لكي يقطع راسي. انظروا اذا جاء الرسول فاغلقوا الباب واحصروه عند الباب. أليس صوت قدمي سيده وراءه.

But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?

Or, Élisée étant assis dans sa maison et les anciens étant assis avec lui, le roi envoya un homme devant lui.
