Sonra Ezra Tanrının Tapınağının önünden ayrılıp Elyaşiv oğlu Yehohananın odasına gitti. Orada gecelerken ne yemek yedi, ne su içti. Sürgünden dönenler Tanrıya bağlı kalmadığı için yas tutuyordu.

ثم قام عزرا من امام بيت الله وذهب الى مخدع يهوحانان بن الياشيب. فانطلق الى هناك وهو لم يأكل خبزا ولم يشرب ماء لانه كان ينوح بسبب خيانة اهل السبي.

Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.
