Asahel peşini bırakmayı reddedince Avner mızrağının arka ucuyla onu karnından vurdu. Mızrak Asahelin sırtından çıktı. Asahel orada düşüp öldü. Asahelin düşüp öldüğü yere varanların tümü orada durup beklediler.
