55 |
They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing." |
قَالُوا بَشَّرْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ الْقَانِطِينَ |
1 857 |
|
56 |
He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?" |
قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا الضَّالُّونَ |
1 858 |
|
57 |
[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" |
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ |
1 859 |
|
58 |
They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals, |
قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ |
1 860 |
|
59 |
Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all |
إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ |
1 861 |
|
60 |
Except his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind. |
إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَا ۙ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ |
1 862 |
|
60 |
And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, |
فَلَمَّا جَاءَ آلَ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلُونَ |
1 863 |
|
62 |
He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." |
قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ |
1 864 |
|
63 |
They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, |
قَالُوا بَلْ جِئْنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ |
1 865 |
|
64 |
And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. |
وَأَتَيْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ |
1 866 |
|
65 |
So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." |
فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِعْ أَدْبَارَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَامْضُوا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ |

66 |
And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. |
وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ الْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُّصْبِحِينَ |

67 |
And the people of the city came rejoicing. |
وَجَاءَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ |
1 869 |
|
68 |
[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. |
قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ ضَيْفِي فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ |
1 870 |
|
69 |
And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." |
وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ |
1 871 |
|
70 |
They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" |
قَالُوا أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ |
1 872 |
|
71 |
[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." |
قَالَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي إِن كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ |
1 873 |
|
72 |
By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. |
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ |
1 874 |
|
73 |
So the shriek seized them at sunrise. |
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ |
1 875 |
|
74 |
And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. |
فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ |
1 876 |
|
75 |
Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. |
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ |
1 877 |
|
76 |
And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. |
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُّقِيمٍ |
1 878 |
|
77 |
Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. |
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
1 879 |
|
78 |
And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. |
وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ لَظَالِمِينَ |
1 880 |
|
79 |
So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. |
فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ |
1 881 |
|
80 |
And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers. |
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
1 882 |
|
81 |
And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away. |
وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ آيَاتِنَا فَكَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ |
1 883 |
|
82 |
And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. |
وَكَانُوا يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا آمِنِينَ |
1 884 |
|
83 |
But the shriek seized them at early morning. |
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ |
1 885 |
|
84 |
So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn. |
فَمَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ |
1 886 |
|
85 |
And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness. |
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَآتِيَةٌ ۖ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيلَ |

86 |
Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator. |
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ |
